Hello,

I am discovering the Omega system.
I am using, under Windows 98, mikTeX and TeXniccenter as editor.

I can compile the files to .dvi with Lambda, but I can not view them
as the system (Yap as viewer) does not know how to create the .pk
files.

I have .ofm, .ovf and .ovp files.

Under Wndows (mikTeX) there is no odvips nor oxdvi programs for
viewing and creating the fonts on the fly.

Thanks for any help.

I haven't looked yet at how Omega works, so I'll try to help as much as I=
=20
can, but don't expect too much :((( .

Have you updated your installation? Because on mine (Windows ME, MiKTeX,=20
TeXnicCenter as editor) I *do* have an odvips file. I haven't checked how=
=20
it works, but at least I'm pretty sure it's there, I have it in front of me=
=20
at this very moment :)) (if it's really not there, after updating, go to=20
the MiKTeX Package Manager and choose "Select Installable Packages" in the=
=20
menu. The "+" button will probably become enabled, and by pressing it you=
=20
will install packages missing from your distribution (did you install a=20
full distribution to begin with?).

As for creating the fonts on the fly, it's quite a complicated process,=20
using programs that seem not to exist yet for Omega. I don't even know the=
=20
equivalent for METAFONT for Omega (although the way METAFONT works, it can=
=20
handle fonts of more than 255 characters, so maybe METAFONT is still used=
=20
by Omega. I will take a look at it and see what I can find out...)

>Thanks for any help.

It's not much, but I'll try to find more info later.

Private PS: Sorry for never replying to your post of the 9th of December=20
2003, that you sent me on my METAFONTtutorial address. I'm just *that* far=
=20
behind in my mail :(( . If you still need an answer, I can arrange to send=
=20
it to you this week I think...=20

Hello!

Following my previous message.

When installing the total mikTeX, Omega works with a small exception.

I am now searching for a discussion group about Omega to go ahead.
Is there any?

Thanks,

Not really. Your best bet would be to contact John and Yannis
directly. But John is in Europe till early May.

An alternative is Aleph: http://www.tex.ac.uk/cgi-bin/texfaq2html?label=aleph

This was a very low traffic list and, indeed, I haven't received any
