General Notes Setting a Working Environment Features A Few Products

TeX4ht is a highly configurable TeX-based authoring system for hypertext. It comes with a built-in default
setting for plain TeX and LaTeX.
- The different packages are in alpha version, but the features described in this document are mostly in beta version.
- Please contact gurari@cis.ohio-state.edu for questions and suggestions. When possible, avoid long emails by sending
a pointer to a www page containing the information.
- A compressed version of this document (or a variant with the file names adjusted for pc-dos), and the other files belonging to this site, are located in
ftp://ftp.cis.ohio-state.edu/pub/tex/osu/gurari/.
- The compressed versions of this document, and the binaries for pc-dos, should be downloaded in binary mode. The
other files should be downloaded in character mode.
For the system to run it needs a port. Gertjan Klein contributed a port for PC-DOS. A partial port for PC-DOS, and two ports for Unix, are provided here. Alternative ports for PC-DOS, Unix, and other platforms can be established in a similar
manner.
Steven Zeil offers improvements for the above settings.
TeX4ht consists of many commands, and its objective is to provide a friendly programmable setting to users of
different levels of sophistication. The following are some of its main features. A full documentation is under
preparation, but months from being completed.
